  Seafood exports net $ 1.89 bn in 2007-08

Seafood exports earned $ 1.89 billion during 2007-08, an increase of 2.49 per cent when compared to 2006-07, mainly due to a surge in unit value realisation, Mr G. Mohan Kumar, Chairman of the Marine Products Export Development Authority (MPEDA), said. "This was the fourth year in a row that the country has been able to achieve record export earnings in dollar terms", Mr Kumar said.
